I look forward to building not only an institute, a collaboration, but hopefully an intellectual contribution to the world. And talking about intellectual contributions, what’s behind starting this center, at least for us, at the Berggruen Institute, from the very beginning is the idea that cultures shape us, ideas shape us, therefore the investment in ideas is really the most important, but ideas don’t come from one source, they come from different parts of the world, different people and different cultures. And from the beginning, I have great respect for Eastern cultures and the origins of culture here in China. And I felt that, I personally, and more importantly, the west, could learn from experiences that exist here and vice versa. So this is a key part of work we’ve been trying to do, as Berggruen Institute from the beginning. So it’s incredibly gratifying we are now able to do it with you at Beida, which to me is one of the centers of knowledge, research, wisdom, one of the exceptional places on earth.
